After 22 rehearsals I have finally finished the opening and closing ceremony for the 17th Commonwealth Games! Most of you are probably like oh my god - 22 rehearsals for a few hours of ceremonies? But yes some people did need that many! hehehe ;) We rehearsed at the City of Manchester Stadium and at a local college, come rain (and it did lash it down)through to the hotest days of the year so far and I have the suntan to show for it!

In the opening ceremony I was an athlete marshall, basically keeping the teams from running a riot across the whole pitch! We got to our holding area at 4.30 and had free food courtesy of ASDA! We all had to dance and sing along to the likes of S Club, Russell Watson and loads of CD tracks! My voice was killing me at the end of it with the amount of screaming, shouting and chatting to some very cute aussies ;) Thankfully it didn't rain and afterwards we went to Walkabout, an aussie bar in the centre of Manchester, which had a late licence until 3.30 so we ended up getting home at 5 that morning!!

The morning of the closing ceremony started with rain but the weather report said it would be fine later on. Once again the weatherman got it wrong!! Could it rain anymore? We got totally soaked, through the three layers of costumes we had on! We wore two pairs of black trousers, a purple t-shirt, a white t-shirt and a blue boilersuit! And we could only just move in it! We ran out with some elastics, carried on a lantern which spelt out 'Seek Peace' (I was in the K) and then we had to keep the very drunk athletes under control again when the music was on! We got free tickets to go to Tiger Tiger after the ceremony and had a blast, met loads of medal winners including Peter Nichol :)

I'm still on a huge high, it has been the best experience and one I would do over again without hesitation!

Hi guys, just realised how long it has been since I posted and so much to write - or what I can remember anyways!!

In Feb I went down to Oxford and jumped on snowplains for a few minutes and arranged to meet up with Stu at Carfax Tower and had pub lunch at the Turf (*very dodgy alley to get to it). Cool lunch and a few drinks later went shopping for going out bits n bobs.

Oh after filling in my application to be a volunteer for the Commonwealth Games I had my interview/initial training. The light exercise was more a mini aerobic session which I don't think any of the more mature ladies were expecting! Anyways I have been asked to help at the opening and closing ceremonies, to either carry a banner saying the country's name or to walk alongside the athletes and keep them in order! So watch out for me on the TV!!

Still working at the college but desperately trying to find a different job, as always! Maybe one day I will get there.

Been catching up with friends who I neglected a bit, so more going out and I never seem to be at home! Two quick messages 1) James hope the probabtion interview thingy goes well - I am sure it will and 2) Gordon good luck with your dissertation :)

The long easter weekend was a good break, much needed to charge the batteries. Oh and I saw the Royal Tennubaums (apols for the spelling!). Really cool film - I liked it more than Helen did - but maybe that is just me :)

Anyways going to play bingo with Connect Plus (the disability group I help with :)) been busy helping a lot with them as some events have been short of volunteers as loads are on holidays!

I went to Marple Gang Show two weeks ago, which was fab. (Gang Show is when Scouts and Guides and their leaders get together to put on a show with songs, skits, sketches etc). I was really proud as 8 of my guides were in the show - and they were all amazing :)

Promise it won't be long til my next post.

On hard seats that is crap!! Got to get the bus at 7.10am tomorrow just to make sure I get in on time!!

Well I am back at the college, working in the same job and it's almost like I have never been away! Scary how little things change. Definately only there in the short term!

Oh and my sleep patterns are up the spout too - get to bed about 12 - sleep wake at 2.30 and 4.15 - each night. Stayed there that night and when we eventually got Russell motivated ;) I drove us to Tarbert (tiny fishing village on the West Coast), via Falkirk and Stirling to see family and friends. Got to Tarbert at 9 that evening, Russell's mum and dad had cooked us tea, which we had, showered and then walked down to the pub.

Fell over on the way back from the pub, about 4.30 that morning, broke the heel on my shoe and got a bruised bum!! Way too much ice.

On New Years Day woke about 10 and then waited for the dirty stop out to come back ;) had a fab cooked brekkie and then set off at about 2.
A friend emailed me this and it picked me up when I needed it :)

1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in someway.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. If not for you, someone may not be living.
8. You are special and unique.
9. Someone that you don't even know exists, loves you.
10. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
11. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.
12. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you believe in yourself, probably, sooner or later, you will get it.
13. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
14. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know
15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

Kind of a reunion as well :)

Still unemployed but with it coming up to crimbo no-one is really recruiting at this time of year, but time off to chill and getting rid of that feeling of being run down is good.

I spoke to two guys on the phone last night, both drunk!! James has just got a new job and was celebrating (congrats honey) and Gordon was comiserating after a bad exam (only one more to go love!).

I am going to get the crimbo pressies tomorrow - honest ;)
